We fell in love with Oscar de la Renta's pale gray-blue lacquer as soon as we spotted it on the Fall 2012 runway. So we were thrilled to hear the designer is entering the nail (and lip) game with an upcoming collection of six polishes and lipsticks.
The gorgeous pastel polish will be part of the Oscar de la Renta Essential Luxuries Collection set to launch in October. Three of the nail lacquers were introduced on the runway: Red Carnation, bold and feisty; Aubergine, a glossy rich eggplant; and Larimar, our fave baby blue hue. Hopefully the other nail colors and lipstick options will prove equally gorgeous.
According to Elle, de la Renta turned to his everyday life as inspiration for the cosmetics line. The designer "has had a longtime love affair with Spain's red carnations and the Dominican Republic's blue Larimar gemstones." Similarly, other designers like Betsey Johnson, Peter Som and Prabal Gurung have created special shades occasioned by their most recent collections.
