Kate and Pippa Middleton Spark Sheer Pantyhose Trend

Since their arrival on the scene, Kate and Pippa Middleton have become retail gold to the fashion industry. Everything they touch is sold out in minutes, ensuring high sales levels for their favorite things. Many of the things they like, we support wholeheartedly: Zara, Alexander McQueen and affordable style for example. Unfortunately, it seems both sisters are also fond of something less palatable—sheer pantyhose.

Prior to the Middleton sisters, nude hose was something worn in formal office settings or on occasions where elder people would frown on bare legs. But now, they're apparently a rising trend. Retailers in London are enjoying an 85% increase in sales of nude hose, particularly among young women. But it's not just across the pond. Even US companies are noticing increases in purchasing. They say it's a renaissance of young women who never experienced a time when hosiery was de rigueur and want the elegance associated with it.
