"Get ready for thrills, frills & espionage," announced San Francisco-based Benefit Cosmetics in a press release Thursday. In partnership with Marvel Custom Solutions, the beauty brand has created SpyGal, "the FIRST EVER beauty-inspired comic book hero."

According to Benefit, "Marvel, the world's top storytellers, helped us bring our action hero SpyGal to life." The "wise-cracking, pore-zapping persona" was inspired by the company's POREfessional pore minimizing primer.

It seems the launch of SpyGal couldn't come at a better time. After seeing Scarlett Johansson's smart and sexy portrayal of Marvel Comics' Black Widow in The Avengers, we're all craving a little more escapist espionage. And writer James Asmus (Uncanny X-Men, Captain America) and artist Phil Noto (Avengers: The Origin, X-Men Origins) were part of the team hoping their character with the pore-zapping ray gun and touch-up pro case will hit the mark.

The comic, "undercover...and over the top," is currently available at Benefit cosmetic counters. Fans can also use the Mavel AR app to access video content "from the glamorous world of makeup."
